Time to Make a Difference

Hello Commander.

Am I glad to see you. I've been busy keeping up the orders for you, but now it's time for you to make some decisions.

If this is your first day in HQ I will walk you through and point out a few issues you should address. If you should need more information be sure to check out the other entries of the captains blog. They may contain the information you need.

Let's start with the main screen. On the left side you can see the information concerning your general status and the deadline when all orders should be placed. Don't forget to finalize your command before the hosting deadline or you will get penalized. If the status is "tight" you may well be the last commander not finished giving orders. You can see the status of your opponents in the VIPS selection in the HQ.

Speaking of the selection in the HQ another important selection is the messages. Here you get feedback on how your orders have been carried out. Even though we are all trying to comply, sometimes orders can't be carried out. And specially when sending a fleet to attack you will get the battle report in the messages.

Yes sending out fleets to attack the other planets is crucial to gaining control over the Alterran Colonies. Since the Empire has retreated every planet leader is building up a fleet to take over the control. I'm afraid that reasoning with them has led to nothing and I see no hope for a peaceful reunion of the Colonies. But that must be our goal, since the Empire will return soon and only reunited we will stand a chance against them.

So I have been building new ships to strengthen our fleet. You can see the ship production on the planets screen, the right tab on top with the planets name. When you hopefully get more planets you will see the new planet names appear next to the one on top. In the "overview" you get an overview, but I guess you already knew that. Well I'll just skip to the production selection. Here you can see the ship production and further down the machine production. You might want to increase the ship production, since we kind of need more ships, as I tried to explain. But at one point you will also need more machines to produce more or better ships. Wow, I would really like to see a battleship one day, but that's quite a task to produce. Oh, and you also need resources and capacity and credits and...

Which brings me back to the population. You can see the information on the "population" selection. The tax rate will ensure that we get enough credits. I have not tried to change anything here, but you might?! Well, there is the allocation of the population. You can tell them where they should work at. I tried to set the balance between the different jobs, but guess I didn't do too good a job. I focused on producing enough food for everyone, since that was a major problem right after the last battles with the Empire. But you should definitely make some adjustments.

Maybe you should also build some more infrastructure. It was all a bit too complex for me to do anything fancy here. Because the people that build infrastructure can't work to produce any goods. And the more infrastructure you build, the more inefficient they get. And... Ah, you're here now and I don't have to deal with that anymore. You will figure it out...

Anyway, coming back to the fleet. In the space port selection you can see all the ships that are in orbit around the planet. From the space port you can move ships to build up a fleet, which can move to another planet you can select. As I mentioned before, the other planet most likely will also have a fleet and they won't be happy when you move our fleet there. I have never tried it, but most likely they will engage. However, I have looked at other planets and have seen, that they have different size fleets. I almost selected a viable target, but then again, I knew you would do a much better job choosing when and where than me.

As you can see, when you click on a planet on the map at the bottom left, you can see information on that planet. I don't know how accurate that is, but I guess, that planet intelligence is quite reliable. So when you think we have enough ships you can choose a suitable target planet and send a fleet to attack. Hopefully, we can defeat the other fleet. If not, we can certainly make an impact.

Well, I hope you will do better than I did. I know you will. And don't forget to look at the captains blog. I wish you the best of luck, Commander !!!
